The Sea Glider uses tool-less assembly with the addition of Clevis pins / key rings (split rings) in place of slower to assemble machine screws / lock nuts. Aluminum plate connectors are used at the bow and stern in place of HDPE stem plates. This method was first tested on the Sea Otter and has performed well. The aluminum plates are easier to make and attach than HDPE stems, and they weigh less.
